“The backdrop to this film is the Portuguese colonial war, during which an officer talks to his comrades as they patrol the African savannah, the epic of Portugal, recounting an epic based on great defeats. The story ends with the revolution of April 25 1974, on the same day that the officer dies, after his patrol has been ambushed.”
